Winter Work (via Skis)

Folks often ask us, “What do you do for Winter work at Glacier Park Boat Company?”

Well…  we work through a large quantity of paperwork (too boring to share here), and meticulous boat maintenance (we’ll share here later), and then there’s plenty of miscellaneous, which we’ll file this workday under.

Glenden, Margaret, Ty, and James spent this particular December date cross-country skiing into the Boathouse at Fish Creek to finish closing up.

Check it out:

We’ll just say that Winter work for us is varied, and it keeps us on our toes.  Of course, we’re looking forward to summer, but there’s something about these quiet, reflective times that is nice, too.

Cross Country skiing is great around Lake McDonald in the Winter, try it if you can!  From the Flathead Valley, head toward the park with your gear.  Make a day of it, and pack a lunch and cocoa!  You can park at Lake McDonald Lodge and explore the Going-to-the-Sun Road.  You can also go around the foot of the lake like we did: park at Grist road, and ski to Fish Creek and out to Rocky Point.

The boats might be tucked away for Winter, but there is always more to explore in Glacier National Park!

  1. Thanks for the incredibly beautiful winter photos. They are wonderful to see. I’m glad the crew had a sunny day to get to the boat house. It seems there was a fair amount of fun mixed with the work! Will follow your blog now that I’ve found it! Thanks, Jammer Evelyn
