Many Glacier

The tour at Many Glacier begins on the shores of Swiftcurrent Lake aboard the Chief Two Guns, cruise across the lake, dock, disembark and walk 0.2 mile (over a steep hill) to the shores of Lake Josephine. You will then board the Morning Eagle and cruise to the head of Lake Josephine where you can either disembark and go on a guided or self-guided hike, or remain on the boat to return back across both lakes to the Many Glacier Hotel.

2023 Tour Pricing

* All passengers must disembark at the head of Lake Josephine. The first available return boat is at 9:45 am.

** Optional Guided Hike to Grinnell Lake at no additional charge. Including the 1.5 hour boat tour, time required is 3 to 4 hours. Guided hikes will begin July 1, 2023. All boats will dock at the head of Lake Josephine to allow passengers to disembark and return on a later boat if water levels and weather allow. Please visit our Hiking Information Page for details on the hikes.

For transportation from trail head at Josephine Lake to the main dock near the ticket office, one-way return trip tickets may be purchased in advance through the website or by contacting the Reservations Office. Based on availability, one-way return trip tickets can be purchased at the ticket office prior to hiking. One-way return trip tickets are available for return boat trips, not up-lake travel from the main dock. Please pick up reserved tickets at the ticket office prior to your hike and verify return times. Prices are $19.05 for adults and $9.55 for children, children under 4 are free.

Glacier National Park has implemented a Vehicle Reservation System for the Going to the Sun Road corridor (GTSR), Many Glacier valley and Two Medicine valley. Effective May 26, 2023, through September 10, 2023, vehicle reservations are required to access the GTSR corridor for Lake McDonald or Apgar activities. Please utilize the West Entrance of the park prior to July 1, 2023, as access to these locations from the St. Mary Entrance of the GTSR corridor will not be available until July 1, 2023, or until the GTSR is fully open.

Effective July 1, 2023, through September 10, 2023, vehicle reservations are required to access the Many Glacier and Two Medicine valleys for activities, as well as the St. Mary Entrance of the GTSR for activities at Rising Sun on St. Mary Lake.

Reservations for boat tours or watercraft rentals at Lake McDonald, Rising Sun at St. Mary Lake, or Apgar include vehicle access for the GTSR Corridor on the day of your reservation. Many Glacier and Two Medicine reservations will provide access to those Valleys on the day of your reservation. Please remember current Park entry fees still apply.

Canoes and Kayaks

Watercraft Rental Information

Many Glacier offers a variety of personal watercraft rentals. All rentals are on a first come first serve basis, reservations are not available. The minimum rental time is 1 hour. Life jackets, paddles, oars and fuel are provided at no additional charge.

Watercraft Rental

Advanced reservations are available for a limited number of watercraft, reservations will require a minimum of 2-hour rental and are available at 9:30am only. Remaining rentals will be available on a first come first serve basis at the ticket office location.

The Many Glacier Ticket Office is located near the dock behind the Many Glacier Hotel. Customers may use hotel stairs to access lower-level access to the ticket office. The nearest restroom facilities are located in the hotel.

This service is operated by Glacier Park Boat Company, a Concessioner under contract with the U.S. Government and administered by the National Park Service. The Concessioner is responsible for conducting these operations in a satisfactory manner. Services and prices are approved by the National Park Service.
